Enabling Mum To Stay At Home

The Elder Home Share scheme was a godsend to our family for the last few years of our Mam's life, particularly as only one of five siblings lives in Dublin. Sadly, we lost Evelyn (in her 96th year) in mid-March but we were blessed that in having her trusted Home Share companion, Christianah living with her she died in the comfort of her own home and on her own terms. There were 2 other Home Share Companions ( Lisa & Fiona) prior to Christianah for approx.6 months each who were both lovely but we all have a special fondness for Christianah as she was there the longest and present with me when Evelyn died on 14th March.

Our mother was an exceptionally bright and independent woman, a brilliant cook & avid cryptic crossword fan who more than anything wanted to continue enabling mum to stay at home. Although she became a bit less mobile in her last years, having a live-in companion enabled her to do just that with a bit of support and gave us as a family the reassurance that she had help on hand when required. We would like to sincerely thank Saoirse for the support and assistance she provided to Evelyn & our family over the last few years and wish her every success in the future. I would highly recommend the Elder Home Share Scheme to others as a good solution to allowing people to continue living at home.
